How Feiolix® raises GLP-1 levels and offers a natural alternative to synthetic semiglutides .

Feiolix® with our latest research on its GLP-1 inducing pathways as well as the potential for its application in menopause and pregnancy. We will cover the following topics:
1. Feiolix® and Abscisic Acid; how Abscisic acid can help support insulin secretion and glucose absorption, as well as stimulate GLP-1 release.
2. Preliminary data summary from our ongoing Feiolix® metabolic health clinical study, with the University of Auckland, and how it supports our dual-pathway mechanism of action for GLP-1 secretion.
3. Data summary of our latest market acceptance test with Feiolix® for menopausal symptom relief, as well as our synbiotic study with Feiolix® and 12 key strains of bacteria. We will then touch briefly on the MOA of Feiolix® and how it influences the Estroblome (gut-hormone connection).
4. Safety of Feiolix® in Pregnancy and Feiolix’s application into gestational diabetes.

This information is significant and different because it is to our knowledge the first data for synbiosis between feijoa and probiotic strains, as well as the testing of GLP-1 levels and menopausal impact. The opportunity it presents is both a new option for metabolic support and weight loss as well as a new alternative for helping balance gestational blood glucose levels, supporting metabolic health during pregnancy, and improving menopausal symptoms.

Pisane, the new vegetable protein as alternative of dairy protein

Plant proteins are attracting rising interest due to their health benefits and environmental sustainability but little is known about the nutritional value of pea proteins when consumed by older people. In a recent study, the digestibility and nutritional efficiency of PISANE™ pea protein isolate is compared to casein and whey proteins in old rats. The results of this study showed that old rats used pea protein with the same efficiency as casein or whey proteins, due to its high digestibility and amino acid composition. Using this pea protein could help older people diversify their protein sources and more easily achieve nutritional intake recommendations.

Levagen+ for the treatment of neuroinflammation, neuropathic pain and adjuvant against SARS-CoV-2 infection

The inflammation of the nervous system is a complex process involving different types of cells involved in neuropathies such as lumbociatalgia, chronic pelvic pain (dysmenorrhea), trigeminal neuralgia (migraine) and carpal tunnel syndrome among others. Inflammatory mediators are released by mast cells and microglia, producing an amplifying effect of the pain signal. When this happens, our body releases PEA (palmitoylethanolamide), a neuromodulator that stimulates the production of endocannabinoids and has an “entourage” effect on different receptors that reduces inflammation and pain. In addition, more than 50 years ago, PEA demonstrated its effectiveness also in allergic reactions and for the treatment of human influenza.
Levagen+ is an ingredient that contains PEA in a lipid dispersion matrix (LipSperse®), which favors its dispersion in aqueous media and increases the bioavailability of PEA.
Levagen+ has demonstrated its efficacy in different clinical studies: joint pain and inflammation, headache vs ibuprofen, menstrual pain, sleep improvement, peripheral neuropathic pain caused by diabetes and other inflammatory processes currently under study. Recently, in May of this year, the efficacy of PEA (mPEA, Levagen+) has just been published, showing that it binds to the SARS-CoV-2 glycoprotein (Omicron and Delta variants), which causes COVID-19, reducing the viral infection by 70% and also preventing the transmission of new viruses when cells are infected.

VIVAPHARM® Alginates – versatile biopolymers for nutraceutical applications

JRS Pharma’s Portfolio of VIVAPHARM® Alginates consists of Sodium Alginate, Calcium Alginate and Alginic Acid. They are derived from brown algae and as natural based hydrocolloids, they have versatile functionalities. Sodium alginate is available in different grades that cover a big range of viscosities and particle sizes. The sodium alginate VIVAPHARM® Alginate PH R5 is used for anti-reflux applications. Together with a calcium source, it forms a gel-raft in an acidic environment. This mechanical barrier prevents the reflux of gastric acid into the esophagus.

Furthermore, sodium alginate acts as a diffusion barrier in extended release tablet formulations. At the interface of the release medium and the tablet core, the biopolymer forms a gel layer through which the active ingredient diffuses over an extended period. Both sodium alginate and calcium alginate are used in wound care products. They act as a swelling agent with a high water binding capacity keeping the wound moist. In addition, the calcium alginate’s hemostatic properties are beneficial for wound care applications.

The calcium alginate VIVAPHARM® Alginate PH 460 and VIVAPHARM® Alginic Acid PH 060 are used as natural disintegrants. Due to their fibrous structure, a wicking effect combined with swelling enables a fast tablet disintegration.”

Bifizen – Clinically-studied Probiotic for Mental Well-being

The contribution of gut microbiota in mental well-being has been widely described in literature.
Many mental diseases, including stress and anxiety, as well as autism, major depressive disorder and schizophrenia have been associated to alteration in the gut microbiota composition.
The related decreased Lactobacillus, Faecalibacterium and Bifidobacterium abundance and increased LPS-producing bacteria has been linked to disrupted barrier function, systemic inflammation and neuro-inflammation, oxidative and nitrosative stress.
Bifizen® is a probiotic blend clinically demonstrated to improve depressive mood state, anger, fatigue, acceptance, and sleep quality, with effects maintained after three weeks of wash-out. Follow the seminar to know more on the in vitro, in silico and preclinical studies that underlies the clinical efficacy of Bifizen®.

C3 Reduct®-Reductive, Bioavailable Curcuminoid Metabolites

Curcuminoids are among the most useful nutritional ingredients for the maintenance of health. It is known that curcuminoids are metabolized extensively. But some of the major metabolites such as the glucuronides have been shown to be pharmacologically inactive since they are not good antioxidants or address inflammation or other health issues in contrast to their parent curcumin(oids) (Choudhury et al., 2015). On the contrary, the reductive metabolites of curcuminoids retain essentially all the useful health-promoting activities of curcuminoids. Sabinsa’s C3 Reduct® is composed of the most prominent reduced metabolites of curcuminoids, namely tetrahydrocurcuminoids (THCs). It is only EFSA approved Curcuminoids metabolite in European market.

Evidence for the nutritional and health benefits of alternative proteins

The incredible expansion of the alternative protein market is attributed to increased consumer interest in health alongside concerns about the environmental impact of animal protein, as well as animal welfare. In fact, the world population growth rate is challenging the current food system and highlights the immediate need for a protein transition towards alternative protein sources. However, the nutritional and health benefits of alternative proteins must be evidenced through rigorous scientific studies that demonstrate their protein quality and bioavailability, as well as their nutritional value and beneficial effects derived from their chronic consumption in different populations and age groups.
