Levagen and Levagen+: the natural alternative for pain. Clinical efficacy of Levagen and Levagen+ in the treatment of joint pain, menstrual pain, headache and diabetic neuropathy
Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) was described in 1957 as a substance produced by the cells of our body with important actions related to metabolic homeostasis. Research during this time on PEA has shown its activity on the endocannabinoid system and its effectiveness in the treatment of pain and as an anti-inflammatory agent.
A systematic review conducted between 2011 and January 2023 of double-blind randomized clinical studies on PEA and pain selected 11 clinical studies that entered a meta-analysis published in 2023. The 11 selected studies included 2 in which PEA owned by Gencor-Pharmako and marketed under the names Levagen and Levagen+ was used. Levagen+ is the trade name for palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) treated with LipiSperseTM technology to increase its bioavailability.
This presentation presents the results obtained in clinical studies carried out with Levagen and Levagen+ for the treatment of pain in four different areas: joint pain, primary dysmenorrhea, diabetic peripheral neuropathy and headache compared to ibuprofen. The results have clinically demonstrated the effectiveness of Levagen and Levagen+ to significantly reduce pain as well as inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein and IL-6..

Pisane, the new vegetable protein as alternative of dairy protein

Levagen+ for the treatment of neuroinflammation, neuropathic pain and adjuvant against SARS-CoV-2 infection
The inflammation of the nervous system is a complex process involving different types of cells involved in neuropathies such as lumbociatalgia, chronic pelvic pain (dysmenorrhea), trigeminal neuralgia (migraine) and carpal tunnel syndrome among others. Inflammatory mediators are released by mast cells and microglia, producing an amplifying effect of the pain signal. When this happens, our body releases PEA (palmitoylethanolamide), a neuromodulator that stimulates the production of endocannabinoids and has an “entourage” effect on different receptors that reduces inflammation and pain. In addition, more than 50 years ago, PEA demonstrated its effectiveness also in allergic reactions and for the treatment of human influenza.
Levagen+ is an ingredient that contains PEA in a lipid dispersion matrix (LipSperse®), which favors its dispersion in aqueous media and increases the bioavailability of PEA.
